Use free practice to understand the interface before choosing a programme. Preparation should make the passage, timer and result familiar.
Check your device first
Use the keyboard and browser you expect to use for the assessment. Make sure the passage and input area are readable. Confirm the programme’s duration and any stated conditions rather than assuming all online tests work the same way.
Follow the passage exactly
Type the supplied text with its spaces, capital letters and punctuation. Read ahead only as far as you can comfortably track. Review repeated mistakes slowly before taking another timed session.
Read the result in context
Compare sessions with the same duration and similar passage difficulty. Consider accuracy alongside speed. One session is evidence of that session; it does not guarantee the same result in a different assessment.
Have the access information ready
For a paid assessment, use the purchase instructions, email and reference. Check delivery and refund terms before paying. Contact support about accessibility or missing access information before beginning.
