Compare language, passage difficulty, duration and scoring method as well as WPM. This site reports correct-character WPM and position-based accuracy, so results from a different method may not be directly comparable.
Guide from Typing Certificate Online · Updated 12 October 2026 · About the publisher
The online test reports correct-character WPM and position-based accuracy. Both are calculated from the submitted text and the session duration.
The speed calculation
Five correct characters form one standard word unit. The correct-character count is divided by five and by elapsed minutes. Typing more text helps only when those characters match the source passage.
The accuracy calculation
The test compares each typed character with the character at the same source position. Correct matches divided by typed characters gives the accuracy percentage. Missing or extra characters can affect later comparisons; punctuation and spaces count.
What free practice stores
Free practice runs in the browser and gives a result for that session. It does not ask for your purchase details, save a learner record or issue a certificate. You can reset and practise again.
What a paid result means
Paid assessment timing and scoring are checked on the server. The result and purchase reference are reviewed by staff. This is a measured typing session, not a proctored identity examination or an automatic certificate decision.
Check the measurement behind the number
For a complete 60-second attempt, 240 correctly positioned characters equal 48 correct-character WPM. If 250 characters were typed in total, accuracy is 96%. The certificate records actual duration, so an early submission should not be compared silently with a complete one-minute test.
